The Syrian civil war, since 2011, has caused many to flee their homes, loose loved ones or become orphans. Amal will be the nurturing point of the children’s faith; a faith in themselves. The school will help them rebuild their confidence, while healing their wounds and allowing them to work on individual improvement. It will be a  school  where the voices of the children will  be  heard  and  where they  will  be  given  a stage  to showcase themselves.  Amal’s library and cafetorium will be open to the community for usage and gatherings. The school is sustainable and off the grid to be as independent as possible. Additionally, the design incorporates intimate spaces and alcoves at suitable heights for children’s access only, providing them with personal spaces in the classrooms and library. This playful school provides the children with comfort while teaching them about courage and hope for a bright future.
